Eco Schools
We are well on the way to becoming an Eco School and our eco-committee are taking their new role very seriously!
Each class has selected two Eco-Warriors who have spent time during their meetings completing an audit of the school environment. The group have assessed the school against a set criteria, including:
Biodiversity, Energy, Global Citizenship, Healthy Living, Litter, Marine Care, School Ground, Transport, Waste and Water.
From this, the children will vote on areas that they wish to target first, in order to improve care and sustainability of the school environment.
The group established that there are already many great things in place, our nature area and allotment being two of these. The children are looking forward to improving these areas and making sure that they are fully utilised by all staff and children.
If you have green fingers or any spare time, please let us know if you would be able to assist with running the gardening or nature club after school one day a week.
Top tip from the Eco-Warriors – Every time you leave a room, if you are leaving for more than a minute, make sure you switch the light off to save energy and reduce your carbon footprint!
